Nothing pulls me in like a good board game — whether it's a luck-driven game like Catan or a tactical grind like Chess. Board games might look like a waste of time, but Dune: Imperium in particular has taught me skills I never expected to learn from a game: persuasive tactics, teaching strategy to others, and communicating clearly under pressure. It's also how I've made an outsized impact within the Dune community — through my YouTube channel, a 64-player tournament I organized, and a Discord bot I built to run online events.
Trees, forests, and open trails reset me after a busy week, so in my downtime I love getting outside — alone or with friends and family. Hiking has taught me the value of preparation and perseverance: some trails are long and unpredictable, and having the right gear, water, and food is the difference between a good day and a hard one. I was raised on cricket — it's ingrained in my family. I started a team in high school that went on to win bronze, and I still play locally with friends. Captaining that team taught me how to manage people and allocate resources — putting each player where they'd do the most good — lessons that carried directly into how I lead on software teams. My love of sport isn't limited to cricket: I play intramural soccer at Georgia Tech and follow Liverpool FC closely. The same skill shows up in both — communication, whether you're calling for the ball or signaling a pass.
